Premium Leather Shoulder Pads 
The shoulder pad should probably be included (with the additional cost) and not an added option. For distracted shoppers like myself, you may not notice that the strap does not have any padding and just order the case. Once I received the case in the mail, I realized my error and then ordered the shoulder pad. The weight of a laptop and any other materials can be quite heavy and the padding is pretty much always necessary. I LOVE my bag (my first lasted me over 10 years) and maybe I am just a princess in need of more comfort :-)
Kathryn: The reason the pad is an option is because not everyone needs it. Some of our customers are using our cases for very light and thin MacBooks. These customers might not find the pad necessary but would then have to pay for it. For 15-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro owners, the pad is available. They can add it as needed.
My husband uses his vintage MacCase every day, and carries a lot in it in addition to his MacBook. The MacCase is eight years old and looks better every year. We live in South Florida, which means high temperatures and very high humidity, and the bag has held up remarkably well. Just recently the foam on the shoulder pad has begun to wear. Fortunately, we can replace the pad and he gets to keep his bag. It's a testament to the construction and materials used by MacCase that the bag has held up this well over so long a period. In addition, the customer service is the best!
I was hopeing this was shorter in length and more pliable. I was going to use it for my shoulder bag purse. A little too wide also It is quality made but too stiff and long and wide for what I need it for.
This customer ordered our Premium Leather Shoulder Pad as a stand alone item. To be fair, our shoulder pads are designed to work with MacCase designs. As the designer of the product, I never thought that someone might want to use one on a non-MacCase bag. She tried it for a third party bag and it didn't work for her. Her review reflects this fact.
