The latest in a series of interviews about the story behind the design of MacCase products. For this interview, we are speaking to MacCase President Michael Santoro about the new MacCase iPad Pro 12.9 6th Generation Case.
JKD- Welcome. A lot of thought and time has gone into the design of these models. Do you consider them luxury iPad cases?
MS - I guess it depends on what your definition of luxury is. If premium materials, exquisite craftsmanship, excellent protection, and a functional design constitute a luxury iPad case, then yes, this is one of them.
Great products are more than the sum of their parts. They have to work and function. Many products do this. But great products stir the soul. They move you. I think our products do that. They have always done that. This is a part of luxury too. Maybe the best part.
Leather iPad Pro 12.9 6th Generation Case with Pencil Holder
JKD - A lot of people are interested in what they call an iPad Pro case with a Pencil holder. Is that what this case is?
MS - When someone thinks of an iPad case with a Pencil holder, I believe they are imagining a molded plastic tray with a place for the Apple Pencil to clip into. That's not what we do.
What we do is much more elegant. The Magnetic Accessory System version of our cover combined with our Pencil Case creates an iPad Pro 12.9 6th generation case with a Pencil holder in a unique way.

JKD - I've asked you this on a number of occasions, but is this the best leather case for the iPad Pro 12.9 6th generation?
MS: "Best" is a very subjective word. It's like cars. What is the best car for one person might not be the best car for another. It's really about finding a product that best meets your individual needs. We know after 12+ years of making folios for Apple tablets that this is the best iPad Pro 12.9 case 5th generation we've ever done.
At MacCase, we try to do this with every one of our designs. There is always a core group of goals we want the product to achieve. Or to put it another way, there is always a core group of needs we want the product to meet and often exceed.
We know if we do this and do it well, we'll have a case that many people out there will think is the best. There are a lot of folks out there who have needs that are different than the needs we design our Folios to meet. They might like what we have done but it's not the best iPad Pro 12.9 case for them.
